Fantasy Cricket Match Predictions Bengal T20: Town Club and East Bengal Club Match 29
The 29th match of the Bengal T20 Challenge 2020 will take place between Town Club and East Bengal Club in Kolkata.
Only two more league games are to be played before we enter the playoff stage and the encounter between Town Club and East Bengal Club is one of them.
Town Club is placed at number 2 position on the points table with 6 wins to their name. In the last game against Tapan Memorial Club, they unleashed a wonderful display of power hitting right through the innings which helped them put on a total of 165 in 20 overs. Purab Joshi and Avijit Singh set the tone in the beginning by stitching together a century stand for the 2nd wicket. Purab Joshi scored 45 runs while Avijit Singh made 66 runs. MD Kaif gave the late burst to the innings with his well made 16 off 9 balls that included a very well timed six. Town Club knew they had to stay on their toes against a strong Tapan Memorial side and they backed themselves to score a big total.
In reply, Tapan Memorial Club lost their top 4 batsmen within the powerplay overs due to an accurate bowling display by MD Kaif and Ayan Bhattacharya. MD Kaif picked up 4 wickets in the match giving away only 11 runs in his spell. Kaif Ahmed at one point threatened to take the game away from Town Club scoring 108 runs off 62 balls. This innings was a great example of taking the attack to the opposition. It featured 11 towering sixes and 4 fours. However, he got no significant support from his partners and in the end Tapan Memorial fell short by only 2 runs.
It was a hard fought contest between the top 2 placed teams and Town Club must feel good coming out as a winning side.
Town Club are hot favourites for their next match against East Bengal Club.
East Bengal Club showed great signs of improving their fate in the tournament by defeating various teams with big margin but their campaign has derailed after 2 consecutive losses. They are currently occupying the second last position on the points table.
The last of their defeat came against Mohun Bagan AC. Winning an important toss, they invited Mohun Bagan to have a bat first. East Bengal bowlers could bowl in the right areas and as a result, Mohun Bagan opening pair got off to a flying start. Of them, Vivek Singh made a good looking 58 runs off 35 balls. Sujit Kumar Yadav provided some important breakthroughs for East Bengal Club but where Vivek Singh had left off, Anustup Majumdar picked up and smashed the opposition to all parts of the ground and made 44 off just 28 balls. Mohun Bagan AC scored an above par score of 152 in their 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Shreevats Goswami shared a good partnership of 46 runs in 5 overs, but once Goswami departed, East Bengal suffered a collapse in their batting lineup. Abhimanyu Easwaran held one end intact scoring a fluent 55 runs off 41 balls but his effort went in vain as East Bengal could only manage 116 runs getting bowled out.
Although the results do not matter for East Bengal Club but they need to hold on to the momentum and chances they created.
