Fast bowler Craig Miles signs extension with Warwickshire CCC
Warwickshire County Cricket Club has agreed a new two-year contract extension with fast bowler Craig Miles, which ensures that he remains a Bear until at least the end of the 2023 season.
Miles (26) joined the Bears ahead of the 2019 season and has taken 31 wickets in 11 First Class appearances, including the recent win over Essex in the LV= Insurance County Championship.
“Craig has worked incredibly hard over the winter months and he has shown a huge amount of determination to force his way back into the first team for the opening games of the Championship season,” said Warwickshire Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace.
“He played a big role in our win over Essex and only injury kept him out of selection for the most recent match with Worcestershire.
“All of the Cricket Management team think very highly of Craig, in that he offers a huge amount with ball, he is a very capable batsman, and he is an excellent athlete who makes a big impact in the field. We’re delighted to secure his future here at Edgbaston.”
Miles made his First Class debut in 2011 and has taken 286 wickets to date, with a further 69 wickets in white ball cricket.
“I’m over the moon to put pen to paper and know that I will remain a Bear for the foreseeable future,” said Craig Miles.
“It was a big decision for me to join Warwickshire, but I wanted to challenge myself in a new squad and in an unfamiliar environment to help me improve as a cricketer. I now feel as though everything is coming together nicely, in being part of a squad with huge potential, with age and experience on our side, but also being very settled in my new home of Birmingham.
“Working closely with Graeme Welch over the last two and a half years has been fantastic and it’s great that there’s such strong competition for places in the bowling ranks. I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed working with Mark Robinson and it’s a very exciting time ahead for all of us at Edgbaston.”
