First come, first served – that’s how tickets for ICC World Twenty20 West Indies 2010 will be sold starting November 1, 2009.

Stressing that there will be no lottery determining if fans get tickets for the matches of their choice, ICC WT20 West Indies 2010 Corporate Communications Manager, Ms Gayle Alleyne, today outlined the ticketing policy for next year’s tournament in Barbados, Guyana and St. Lucia. The women’s preliminary matches will be hosted in St. Kitts and admission is free.

“Ticket will be sold on a strictly first-come-first-served basis – so fans need to get in line or online early. These tickets will sell fast,” she stated, alluding to the fact that tickets will be available for purchase via the website or via ticket centres in Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad. There is also an international call centre.

Not only will fans be certain of securing tickets to the matches of their choice but they will also be able to select the stand and the seating block in which they want to sit.

“Many fans have specific vantage points at venues from which they like to view cricket so they will be pleased to know that they can choose the area in which they want to be seated, unless of course that area is already filled. That’s why it’s important for fans to get out and secure their seating as soon as tickets go on sale regionally – that’s November 1st – and internationally on November 15th.”

Ms. Alleyne also noted that each of the three grounds – Kensington Oval, Providence Stadium and Beausejour Cricket Ground – will have one seating price regardless of which stand a fan chooses. The seating prices will vary according to the stage of the competition.

“In this tournament a seat is a seat. In Barbados, the First Round seating price is US$ 10 while it’s US$15 in the Super Eight phase and US$40 for the finals. So whether you’re sitting in Mitchie Hewitt or the 3Ws Stand for Super Eight matches, you pay US$15. It’s as simple as that,” she elaborated.

The same First Round and Super Eight prices obtain in St. Lucia while the seating price for the Semi-Finals at Beausejour is US$20. The seating price for First Round matches in Guyana is US$10. Tickets will also be sold for the Grounds and for the Party Stand at each venue. As soon as plans are finalised for the Party Stands, they will be announced publicly.

To ensure that as many fans as possible have a fair chance of buying tickets, there is a limit of four (4) tickets per household per match day. However, there is no limit on the number of match days for which tickets can be purchased.
