Free State beat TAP U/19 by 9 wickets
A Free State XI took on South Africa’s Talent Acceleration Programme (TAP) under-19 in the first of two 50-over matches yesterday in Bloemfontein.
TAP under-19 won the toss and elected to bat at Mangaung Oval. South Africa's future stars started slow as Free State bowlers were dominant in their attack. Andrew Louw, top-scored for TAP with his 28 from 39 balls (3 x 4; 1 x 6.
Free State captain, Patrick Botha, was the star of Free State XI, claiming 3 wickets for 31 runs in 10 overs to help dismiss Tap under-19 for 182 all out. Thandolwethu Mnyaka and Nealan van Heerden also claimed two wickets each.
In return, Hanco Olivier dominated the bowlers with his 90 not out from 127 balls (11 x 4; 1 x 6). Karabo Mogotsi had a good partnership with Olivier, scoring 49 runs from 103 balls (3 x 4), to help Free State win the match by 9 wickets.
The second 50-over match will be played today at Mangaung Oval. The next match of TAP U/19 will be held in Potchefstroom.
