Graeme Swann tips Australia to win 2016 World T20

Former England off-spinner Graeme Swann has selected Australia as the leading contender to win the ongoing edition of the ICC World Twenty20 tournament which is being played in India.

Last year, Australia secured their fifth title in the 50-over format by winning the ICC Cricket World Cup and the World T20 remains the only major title missing from their trophy cabinet.

Speaking exclusively as Unibet’s cricket ambassador, Swann reasoned that Australia have a lineup consisting of match winners who are capable of delivering the best performances on the big stage.

“I’m sorry but I’m going for Australia,” said Swann.

“No one likes them but they’ve got some incredible talent in T20 especially in Warner, Smith, Maxwell and Faulkner – guys that turn up on the big occasion.”

Australia are currently listed as the second favorites with Unibet to win the tournament with odds of 19/4 whereas India are the favorites at 2/1 while the odds of England winning their second title are 7/1.

Swann, who was the most economical bowler in the final of the 2010 event, feels that the team which can innovate the most will be the most successful in the ongoing tournament.

“The team that wins the T20 World Cup are the team that innovates the most,” added Swann.

“Other teams are all about smash and grab with big six hitters but the team who innovate are normally the ones that have to be caught in the tournament.”

Australia, who were runners up in the 2010 edition of the ICC World T20, will begin their campaign in the 2016 edition with the game against New Zealand on 18th March in Dharamsala.
