After losing A Sarath Raj in the fourth over for 21, Madurai Panthers had a 62-run partnership for the second wicket between Arun Karthi and Shijit Chandran. Following a couple of quick wickets, R Mithun and Nilesh Subramanian joined hands to take Madurai Panthers to 172.

Gopinath looked good to begin with and Chepauk Super Gillies were looking well poised with 77-3 in the 12th over.
