Heavy rain washes out day two of Hobart Test
Australia 85 (Philander 5-21) v
South Africa 171-5 (Amla 47)
Second Test, Hobart, day two
Continuous and steady rain all over the day led to the abandonment of the second day's play in the second Test between Australia and South Africa in Hobart.
South Africa had a lead of 85 runs over Australia at stumps on day one and it remained like that for the rest of the day as no play was possible.
The umpires had an inspection at 2pm local time and after discussions with the groundsmen, they decided to call off the play with no further improvement in the conditions.
Temba Bavuma (38 not out) and Quinton de Kock (28 not out) will resume their innings at 10am local time on day three as the visitors are pressing hard for a series victory.
