Shane Dowrich and Shimron Hetmyer slammed unbeaten centuries as West Indies amassed 377 for seven at stumps on day one in the tour game against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. Kraigg Brathwaite (2) and Kyle Hope (1) fell early in the innings as the visitors were reduced to five for two.

Kieran Powell (82) and Shai Hope (28) consolidated the innings with their 48 run stand for the third wicket but Richard Alan Jones (1-50) castled the later while Gavin Griffiths (2-70) accounted for Jermaine Blackwood (0) and Roston Chase (3) in quick succession.

Powell had the support of Shane Dowrich (108 not out) as the pair added 117 runs for the sixth wicket to take West Indies out of the woods. Powell's knock that had 12 boundaries and a six was ended in the 52nd over, leaving him 18 runs short of a deserving century.

Dieter Klein (3-77), who picked Powell and Brathwaite early in the innings also removed Jason Holder (4) as West Indies were reduced to 191 for seven.

However, Hetmyer (128 not out) slammed a brilliant century that came at a strike rate above 100 and Dowrich, who also went past the three digit milestone looked solid at the other end. The duo shared an unbeaten 186 run stand for the eighth wicket to take the total to 377 for seven at stumps.
