ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 : 5 Bowlers to look out for in this year’s tournament

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 gets underway, on the 16th of October 2022, with Sri Lanka playing against Namibia.

Although Australia are the defending champions, and have home advantage, India, Pakistan, South Africa, England, Sri Lanka and West Indies, will allb there for World Cup glory.

Check out the 5 Bowlers we have picked to look out for in this year’s event -

1. Nathan Ellis - Australia

Bowling Average in T20I cricket- 8.53

Bowling Economy in T20I cricket- 6.40

Best Figures - 4/28

Nathan Ellis is one of the most promising T20 bowlers in world cricket currently. Ellis first showcased his talent when he produced phenomenal performances with the ball in an away series against Bangladesh in a losing cause. His control over the areas to hit as a bowler is unmatchable. Ellis also played a major role in helping Hampshire lift the English T20 blast trophy for the third time. He picked up 15 wickets in the competition at an average of 20.86 and an impressive economy of 6.87.

Nathan Ellis bowls equally well at the death as he does in the powerplay overs. He doesn't leak away too many runs and also has a knack of picking up wickets. He has many variations in his bowling and it is hard for a batter to pick it from the release point.

Nathan Ellis will definitely not be a front runner to make it to the playing 11. However, if he gets the opportunity to perform, he will grab it with both hands and showcase his skills to the world.

2. Reece Topley - England

Bowling Average in T20I cricket- 29.09

Bowling Economy in T20I cricket- 8.29

Best figures - 3/22

Reece Topley has become a regular in the England's T20 team and has produced phenomenal performances in the recent past. He bowled brilliantly against India in a T20I series at home, followed by a string of good performances against Pakistan away from home. Topley can move the ball both ways and keeps it tight for the batters. Due to his accuracy, it becomes tough for the opposition to score runs freely.

Topley has fit in well within the England T20 side, in the absence of their key bowler, Jofra Archer. He has so far picked up 22 wickets in T20I cricket and turned around many games in favour of the English side from a losing position.

He will play a key role in England's campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 and he is certainly a player to look out for in the tournament.

3. Haris Rauf- Pakistan

Bowling Average in T20I cricket- 23.41

Bowling Economy in T20I cricket- 8.31

Best figures - 4/22

Haris Rauf is a key figure in the Pakistan's bowling lineup. He bowls with a lot of heart and fire. Haris Rauf has won many matches for Pakistan from a losing position. He can execute Yorkers at ease in the death overs and instill a fear in the batters with his surprise short delivery.

For Rauf, Australia is no less than a home ground. He represents Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League. He was drafted by Cricket Australia to feature in the league after spotting him through the talent acquisition exchange between Melbourne Stars and Lahore Qalandars. Rauf performed fairly well in the league and impressed the Pakistan's selection committee as well. Post that, he gave phenomenal performances in the Pakistan Super League. He carried on his form in international cricket and is now a regular for the Pakistan team.

He will be well suited for the Australian conditions, given the bounce and carry there is on the pitches down under. He is certainly one of the bowlers to look out for in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.

4. Adam Zampa- Australia

Bowling Average in T20I cricket- 21.87

Bowling Economy in T20I cricket- 6.93

Best figures - 5/19

Adam Zampa has risen through the ranks to become Australia's favored spinner across the white ball formats. He currently bowls with an impressive average of 21.87 and has picked up 77 T20I wickets so far.

Zampa is a wily leg break bowler who has multiple variations up his sleeve. He is known for his googly that comes at a great speed and is hard for the batter to judge easily. Zampa reminds many cricket lovers of the late great Shane Warne. The former has the same passion for the game and has the ability to change the match from a losing position.

He will be vested with the responsibility to provide wickets in the middle overs phase for Australia and he is definitely one of the bowlers to look out for at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.

5. Anrich Nortje- South Africa

Bowling Average in T20I cricket- 24.79

Bowling Economy in T20I cricket- 7.50

Best figures - 3/8

Anrich Nortje is an express pace bowler for South Africa who hits the hard lengths early on in the innings. Nortje has so far picked up 24 T20I wickets in his short career.

He has the ability to provide early breakthroughs for his team. Nortje also comes in to bowl through the middle overs period shackling the batters ability to break free. His short balls are very accurate and he sets the batters up with such deliveries and then bowls a hard length into the stumps as a surprise. He will spearhead the South Africa pace attack and given his skills, Nortje is bound to find success down under.

The Australian pitches will suit the raw pace and accuracy of Anrich Nortje.
