
ICC T20 WC: Miller, Markram seal the issue after Ngidi spell










South Africa went atop the Group 2 points table in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup after they beat India by five wickets on Sunday at the Perth Stadium.
Earlier, India was reduced to 49 for five in 8.3 overs. Then Suryakumar Yadav teamed up with Dinesh Karthik to add 52 runs for the sixth wicket. Yadav carried the bat through the innings. He batted till 18.5 overs as he finished on 68 off 40 balls with six boundaries and three sixes. In the end India finished on 133 for nine in their 20 overs. For South Africa the best bowlers were Lungi Ngidi (4-29) and Wayne Parnell (3-15).
In their response South Africa lost their top-order cheaply. They were reduced to 24 for three. But then Aiden Markram teamed up with David Miller to add 76 runs for the fourth wicket. India dropped a few sitters especially one off Virat Kohli at the deep mid-wicket. Finally when Markram fell for 52 off 41 balls with six boundaries and a six. Then there was hope for a miracle for India, but it was not to be. Miller remained unbeaten on 59 off 46 balls with four boundaries and three sixes. In the end South Africa overhauled the target in 19.4 overs to finish on 137 for five. For India the best bowler was Arshdeep Singh (2-25).
