Oman’s hope of bouncing back into World Cricket League Division Two at the first time of asking is getting stronger by the day.

They have now won three from three on home soil but had to work hard to see off Denmark on Tuesday, Jatinder Singh’s 73 the key to Oman’s successful chase of 154, with only three wickets to spare.

Kenya meanwhile have taken a while to get going, but after two losses on the spin they upped the ante to comfortably see off Uganda.

Shem Ngoche (2/13) and Sachin Bhudia (2/12) restricted Uganda to 177/9 from their 50 overs and Irfan Karim (59 not out) guided the chase home in style.

USA can move back to the top of the standings on Thursday when they take on bottom placed Denmark, while Singapore face Uganda.

Denmark v Oman

Denmark, still chasing their first win this week, won the toss and elected to bat first. But Bilal Khan (3/36) struck early and while Freddie Klokker (20), Saif Ahmad (41) and Anique Uddin (31) all contributed, the European side failed to kick on.

Match Summary

Denmark 154 all out, 41.4 overs (Saif Ahmad 41, Anique Uddin 31; Jay Odedra 3/30, Bilal Khan 3/36)

Oman 155/7, 47.2 overs (Jatinder Singh 73; Bashir Shah 2/29, Saif Ahmad 2/32)

Result - Oman won by three wickets at Oman Club Turf 1

And with Jay Odedra (3/30) doing damage in the middle order, Denmark were skittled out for 154 inside 42 overs.

Jatinder Singh was the backbone of the Oman chase with 73, indeed no other batsman passed 20 for the table-toppers.

But Bashir Shah (2/29) and Ahmad (2/32) toiled in vain as Oman got themselves over the line with three wickets and 2.4 overs to spare.

Uganda v Kenya

Having opted to bat first, Uganda found runs hard to come by at the top of the order as none of their top three scored more than 11.

Match Summary

Uganda 177/9, 50 overs (Dinesh Nakrani 50, Charles Waiswa 22*t; Sachin Bhudia 2/12, Shem Ngoche 2/13)

Kenya 178/4, 45.5 overs (Irfan Karim 59*, Nelson Odhiambo 53*; Frank Nsubuga 2/28)

Result - Kenya won by six wickets at Oman Club Turf

But skipper Brian Masaba (21), Dinesh Nakrani (50) and Deusdedit Muhumuza (16) provided some resistance in the middle overs.

However, the spin of Shem Ngoche and seamers of Sachin Bhudia kept the run rate below four and in the end the Ugandans finished on 177/9 from their 50 overs.

At 33/3 in response, the Kenyan chase looked in trouble. But Irfan Karim (59 not out) steadied the ship alongside first Rakep Patel (22) and then Nelson Odhiambo (53 not out) as they cruised to a six-wicket victory.
