ICC WT20: India end campaign with a big win over Namibia












India ended their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup with a comprehensive nine wicket win over Namibia at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday night.
This was the last game for Virat Kohli as India's T20I captain and for Ravi Shastri as India head coach.
Namibia after being asked to bat posted 132 for eight in their 20 overs and in response India chased down the target in 15.2 overs to finish on 136 for one.
Namibia got off to a steady start but very swiftly the innings suffered a collapse. Namibia moved from 33 for one to 47 for four. Then there was a 25 run stand between captain Gerhard Erasmus and David Wiese. Then there was another collapse as Namibia lost a few more wickets. In the end Ruben Trumpelmann ended the innings on a high to help finish on 132 for eight in their 20 overs. For India the wicket-takers were Ravindra Jadeja (3-16), Ravichandran Ashwin (3-20) and Jasprit Bumrah (2-19).

In their chase, India was well served again by their openers Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul. The two once again opened up swiftly. Sharma moved quickly to 56 off 46 balls with seven boundaries and two boundaries. The opening pair added 86 in 9.5 overs. Rahul then teamed up with Suryakumar Yadav. The Rahul-Yadav pairing added 50 runs for the second wicket as India overhauled the target in 15.2 overs to finish on 136 for one. Rahul finished unbeaten on 54 off 36 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.
India made one change to their line-up bringing in Rahul Chahar for Varun Chakravarthy.
