India beat England by 8 wickets at Trent Bridge in the 1st ODI of the Series

India won the toss and decided to bowl against England in the 1st ODI at Trent Bridge, Nottingham today.

After a great start from the openers Jonny Bairstow 38 and Jason Roy 38, who put on 73 for the first wicket, in just over 10 overs, Kuldeep Yadav came on to bowl and proceeded to take 6-25 off 10 overs and virtually grind England’s innings to a standstill. However, Jos Buttler 53 and Ben Stokes 50 both batted well to help take England to 268 all out, off 49.5 overs, with support from Moeen Ali 24 and Adil Rashid 22, towards the end of the innings.

In reply, India batted superbly winning by 8 wickets with the England bowlers having no answer to the brilliance of Rohit Sharma 137* and Virat Kohli 75 in particular.
