India v Aus 4th Test Day 2: Australia still control fourth Test after second day

Australia had their noses in front at the end of the second day's play in the fourth and final Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 255 for four, Australia finished on 480. India in response finished the day on 36 for no loss.

Earlier, Australia carried on brilliantly through their fifth wicket stand between Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green. Khawaja and Green added 208 runs for the fifth wicket. The morning session was wicketless for India.

Green reached his maiden Test hundred. Green made 114 off 170 balls with 18 boundaries. Khawaja carried on but there was a brief collpase as Australia moved from 378 for four to 387 for seven. Then a 71 run ninth wicket stand between Nathan Lyon (34) and Todd Murphy (41) stretched the Australian total. In the end Australia finished on 480 in 167.2 overs. Khawaja ended on 180 off 422 balls with 21 boundaries. For India the best bowler was Ravichandran Ashwin (6-91).

In their response India finished on 36 for no loss still 444 runs behind Australia.
