India asked to bat posted 317 for five in their 50 overs and in response England was bowled out for 251 to hand the home team a win.

Earlier, India started cautiously through a 64 run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan (98: 106b, 11x4, 2x6).

Later, Virat Kohli (56: 60b, 6x4) added 105 runs for the second wicket with Dhawan. Towards the end, India got a perfect finish through a 112 run sixth wicket stand between Lokesh Rahul (62 n.o.: 43b, 4x4, 4x6) and Krunal Pandya (58: 31b, 7x4, 2x6).

Pandya scored the fastest fifty on ODI debut when he reached the landmark off just 26 balls.

For England the best bowlers were Ben Stokes (3-34) and Mark Wood (2-75).

England began well through an opening stand of 135 between Jason Roy (46) and Jonny Bairstow (94: 66b, 6x4, 7x6).

Later, there was a middle-order collapse for England. They lost six wickets for just 41 runs. The destroyers were debutant Prasidh Krishna (4-54) and Shardul Thakur (3-37). Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-30) also picked up crucial wickets,

Towards the end England kept adding runs, but lost wickets at regular intervals. In the end England folded up for 251 in 42.1 overs to hand host an easy win.
