The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that India and West Indies will play two Twenty20 Internationals in Florida later in August.

The matches are scheduled to be held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill and will be played on 27th and 28th August.

Last week, the officials of the BCCI and the West Indies Cricket Board met in Florida to discuss the T20I series following the conclusion of the ongoing four-match Test series.

In a media release, the BCCI president Anurag Thakur confirmed that this T20I series will eventually be worked out as an annual event in the USA.

Thakur feels that the T20I series will be a good opportunity for the cricket fans in the USA to witness some quality cricket.

“As part of our continuous efforts to reach out to new markets and audiences, I am very happy to announce that Team India will play two T20Is against the current world champions West Indies in the United States,” Thakur said.

“This will be a great opportunity for the cricket fans in America to watch the two champion sides in action.

“This will be developed into an annual cricketing event in the United States.”

The Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida is the only venue that is certified by the International Cricket Council for hosting limited overs cricket and most recently it also hosted a leg of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League.
