The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that fast bowlers James Anderson and Mark Wood have been ruled out of the tour of Bangladesh due a recurrence of their respective injuries.

According to the ECB media release, Anderson needs more time to recover from the stress fracture in his right shoulder, an injury he picked up during the course of the summer season.

Meanwhile, Wood has suffered a recurrence of his previous ankle injury and is slated to miss the One-Day International series that begins on 7th October and the Test series against Bangladesh as well.

Wood underwent two surgeries in the previous winter season to address his ankle injuries and also successfully returned to both domestic and international cricket in the summer.

However, with the latest setback, the 26-year-old will now be reviewed by the ECB medical team, which will also monitor the recovery of Anderson.

In the place of Wood, the ECB has added Steven Finn to the ODI squad while Jake Ball has been named in the Test squad.

The ECB has also stated that the selectors will consider any further replacements in the Test squad, if necessary, in the due course of time.
