Injury ends David Miller's series against Sri Lanka
South Africa batsman David Miller has been ruled out of the ongoing One-Day International series against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury.
The 27-year-old sustained the blow while he was fielding in the second game in Durban and will require stitches on his right hand which will need at least seven days of rehabilitation.
South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee confirmed the news on Miller and further revealed that he will join the squad for the New Zealand series.
“David required sutures to a laceration sustained while fielding a ball during the match last night.
"He will need at least 7-10 days to recover and will miss the remaining three matches of the series.
"He remains available for selection for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.”
In the second game of the series in Durban, Miller smashed an unbeaten 117 off 98 deliveries to set up a 121-run win for South Africa along with Faf du Plessis.
The selectors have not named any replacement for Miller in the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg.
