IPL 2020: Gill lords over Sunrisers Hyderabad
Young opener Shubman Gill starred in Kolkata Knight Riders easy seven wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday evening.
After opting to bat Hyderabad could post just 142 for four in their allotted 20 overs. They lost wickets early on and never really got any momentum in their innings. Only Manish Pandey (51: 38b, 3x4, 2x6) held the innings together with Wriddhiman Saha (30: 31b, 1x4, 1x6) during a 62 run third wicket stand.
But that did not help matters as Hyderabad posted a mediocre total. The Kolkata bowlers shared the wickets around.
The chase for Kolkata was fashioned by opener Gill (70 n.o.: 62b, 5x4, 2x6). He shared crucial stands first with Nitish Rana (26) and then he closed out the match with a 92 run fourth wicket stand with Eoin Morgan (42 n.o.: 29b, 3x4, 2x6).
