An inspiring Ben Stokes effort helped Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in the Indian Premier League at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday night.

Scintillating Stokes smashes 107*(60)

After opting to bat, Mumbai posted an impressive 195 for five in their allotted 20 overs. The key early contributors to the innings were opener Ishan Kishan (37) and Surya Kumar Yadav (40: 26b, 4x4, 1x6). Kishan and Yadav added 83 runs for the second wicket. Thereafter, it was down to Saurabh Tiwary to play a good supporting role with his 25 ball 34 laced with four boundaries and a six. Late in the innings, Hardik Pandya finished on a high as he smoked seven sixes and two boundaries in an unbeaten 60 off just 21 balls. The key wicket-takers for Rajasthan were Jofra Archer (2-31) and Shreyas Gopal (2-30).

The chase for Rajasthan got off on the wrong note as they lost Robin Uthappa and captain Steve Smith cheaply yet again. Thereafter, Ben Stokes got into the act as Rajasthan chased down the target with ease. Stokes finished on an unbeaten 107 off 60 balls with 14 boundaries and three sixes. Stokes shared a third wicket stand worth 152 runs for the third wicket with Samson (54 n.o.: 31b, 4x4, 3x6). Only James Pattinson with figures of two for 40 was able to exert any control on Rajasthan batsmen.
