Chennai Super Kings 107/4 (15.4overs)

Result:  Chennai Super Kings beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets

Match Highlights:

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. The front line seamer Deepak Chahar bowled beautifully and did not allow the Punjab batters to settle. He removed Mayank Agarwal for a golden duck and followed it with the big wicket Chris Gayle. KL Rahul found himself unlucky as he could not make it to the strikers end on time while trying to steal a single. Ravindra Jadeja was spot on with his throw and KL Rahul lost his wicket to an unfortunate run out dismissal. The middle order simply collapsed with back to back dismissals of Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran. Shahrukh Khan and Jhye Richardson tried to steady the ship with their stand of 31 runs for the 6th wicket. Richardson was cleaned up by Moeen Ali and Punjab found themselves in a big bother.  The lower order batsmen carefully protected their wicket to provide a partnership support to Shahrukh Khan who smashed 47 off 36 deliveries to help post a total of 106 for 8 in 20 overs. Deepak Chahar was the top wicket taker for Chennai Super Kings with 4 scalps to his name in his 4 over spell.

1-1 (Mayank Agarwal, 0.4), 15-2 (Lokesh Rahul, 2.5), 19-3 (Chris Gayle, 4.2), 19-4 (Nicholas Pooran, 4.4), 26-5 (Deepak Hooda, 6.2), 57-6 (Jhye Richardson, 12.1) , 87-7 (Murugan Ashwin, 16.5), 101-8 (Shahrukh Khan, 19.1)

Chasing 106, Chennai Super Kings got off to a very slow start. They lost the opener Rituraj Gayakwad cheaply in the 5th over. Moeen Ali was promoted up the order at number 3 and he carted the bowlers to all directions of the ground for his 46 off 31 deliveries. He along with Faf Du Plessis stitched a partnership of 66 runs for the 2nd wicket to seal the game for their side. Faf Du Plessis remained unbeaten at 36 while Sam Curran hit the winning runs to win the match by 6 wickets. Chennai Super Kings completely dominated the match right from the start and thoroughly deserved to win this one.

 24-1 (Ruturaj Gaikwad, 4.6), 90-2 (Moeen Ali, 12.3), 99-3 (Suresh Raina, 14.2), 99-4 (Ambati Rayudu, 14.3)
