Punjab Kings 106/8 (20 overs)
Chennai Super Kings 107/4 (15.4overs)
Result: Chennai Super Kings beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. The front line seamer Deepak Chahar bowled beautifully and did not allow the Punjab batters to settle. He removed Mayank Agarwal for a golden duck and followed it with the big wicket Chris Gayle. KL Rahul found himself unlucky as he could not make it to the strikers end on time while trying to steal a single. Ravindra Jadeja was spot on with his throw and KL Rahul lost his wicket to an unfortunate run out dismissal. The middle order simply collapsed with back to back dismissals of Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran. Shahrukh Khan and Jhye Richardson tried to steady the ship with their stand of 31 runs for the 6th wicket. Richardson was cleaned up by Moeen Ali and Punjab found themselves in a big bother. The lower order batsmen carefully protected their wicket to provide a partnership support to Shahrukh Khan who smashed 47 off 36 deliveries to help post a total of 106 for 8 in 20 overs. Deepak Chahar was the top wicket taker for Chennai Super Kings with 4 scalps to his name in his 4 over spell.
