IPL 2021 PK vs RCB: Harpreet Brar's incredible All Round Effort Hands RCB their 2nd defeat of the season
Punjab Kings 179/5 (20 ov)
Royal Challengers Bangalore *145/8 (20 ov)
Punjab Kings win by 34 runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first. RCB pacers were spot on right from the start. They did not let Punjab Kings free their arms and it resulted in Prabhsimran losing patience and giving away his wicket in the 4th over.
Punjab Kings looked in a bit of bother but the big man Chris Gayle arrived at the crease and didn't show any mercy to the Bangalore bowlers especially Yuzvendra Chahal. He made 46 before being dismissed by Daniel Sams off a slower bouncer. KL Rahul held one end together and carefully guided the innings towards the death overs.
Meanwhile Punjab kept losing wickets at wrong times and at one point they were 118 for 5 in the 15th over. Harpreet Brar and Lokesh Rahul then punished the Bangalore bowlers in the death overs and propelled the total to 179 for 5 in 20 overs. Lokesh Rahul finished unbeaten at 91 off just 57 balls.
FALL OF WICKETS - 19-1 (Prabhsimran Singh, 3.3), 99-2 (Chris Gayle, 10.4), 107-3 (Nicholas Pooran, 11.3), 117-4 (Deepak Hooda, 13.6), 118-5 (Shahrukh Khan, 14.4)
Chasing 179, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Paddikal started off very slow and the pressure of not getting the right start got the better of Devdutt Paddikal as he was dismissed for 7 runs. Virat Kohli did not show a consistent sign of intent and played a run a ball knock of 35. If his slow knock didn't hurt RCB, Maxwell and ABD's wickets in consecutive overs certainly did.
With ABD's dismissal, RCB's hopes diminished. Harpreet Brar picked up all the important wickets for Punjab and pegged the opposition back. In the end, Kyle Jamieson and Harshal Patel knocked the ball around at will but the required rate had already reached 25 by then. RCB were restricted to 145 for 8 in 20 overs, losing the match by 34 runs.
FALL OF WICKETS - 19-1 (Devdutt Padikkal, 2.3), 62-2 (Virat Kohli, 10.1), 62-3 (Glenn Maxwell, 10.2), 69-4 (AB de Villiers, 12.1), 91-5 (Rajat Patidar, 14.4), 96-6 (Shahbaz Ahmed, 15.4), 96-7 (Daniel Sams, 15.5), 144-8 (Harshal Patel, 19.4)
