IPL 2022 Match 47: Kolkata snap five-match losing streak

Kolkata Knight Riders ended their five-match losing streak by beating Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday night.

Asked to bat, Rajasthan posted 152 for five in their 20 overs and in their response, Kolkata reached the target in 19.1 overs to end on 158 for three.

Earlier, Rajasthan was well served by a 48 run second wicket stand between Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson. Once Buttler fell, Karun Nair joined forces with Samson as they put on 35 runs. Samson finally fell for 54 off 49 balls with seven boundaries and a six. None of the other batters made any impact, except Shimron Hetmyer who finished on an unbeaten 27 off 13 balls as Rajasthan finished on 152 for five in their 20 overs. For Kolkata the most successful bowler was Tim Southee (2-46).

In their response, Kolkata lost some early wickets. But thereafter skipper Shreyas Iyer put on 60 for the third wicket with Nitish Rana. Iyer finally fell for 34 off 32 balls with three boundaries. Then Rana formed a partnership for the fourth wicket with Rinku Singh. The pair added 66 runs for the fourth wicket which was unbroken. Rana finished unbeaten on 48 off 37 balls with three boundaries and two sixes. Rinku was unbeaten on 42 off 23 balls with six boundaries and a six.
