IPL 2022 Match 54: Hasaranga spins Bangalore to a win after Faf, Karthik exploits

Royal Challengers Bangalore kept hopes of a place in the IPL 2022 playoffs alive with a massive 67 run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

After opting to bat, Bangalore posted 192 for three in their 20 overs and in their response Hyderabad was shot out for 125 in 19.2 overs

Bangalore lost Virat Kohli off the first ball of the match. Thereafter, captain Faf du Plessis added 105 runs for the second wicket with Rajat Patidar. In the end Patidar fell for 48 off 38 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. Then, du Plessis added a further 54 runs for the third wicket with Glenn Maxwell. After Maxwell fell for 33 off 24 balls, it was down to Dinesh Karthik to take the innings forward. Karthik slammed a quickfire unbeaten 39 off eight balls with one boundary and four sixes. du Plessis remained unbeaten on 73 off 50 balls with eight boundaries and two sixes. Bangalore finished on 192 for three in their 20 overs. For Hyderabad, Jagadeesha Suchith was the best bowler with figures of two for 30.

In their response, Hyderabad lost their openers without opening their account. Captain Kane Williamson was dismissed without facing a delivery as he was run out and his partner Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Glenn Maxwell. Therereafter, Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi added 51 for the third wicket. Tripathi held the innings together through another partnership with
Nicholas Pooran. Tripathi finally fell for 58 off 37 balls with six boundaries and two sixes. But the other batters just did not contribute to the chase. Hyderabad was bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs. For Bangalore the best bowler was Wanindu Hasaranga (5-18) and Josh Hazlewood (2-17).
