IPL 2022 Match 60: Punjab keep hopes alive with a big win over Bangalore
Punjab Kings shook up the IPL 2022 points table with a 54 run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium on Friday night.
Asked to bat, Punjab posted 209 for nine in their 20 overs and in response Bangalore was restricted to 155 for nine in their 20 overs.
Punjab got off to a flier thanks to Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan putting on 60 in just five overs. Bairstow carried on as he finished on 66 off 29 balls with four boundaries and seven huge sixes. Liam Livingstone carried on the good work as he smacked the bowlers at will. Livingstone finished on 70 off 42 balls with five boundaries and four sixes. Livingstone shared a 51 run stand for the fourth wicket with captain Mayank Agarwal. Livingstone was the seventh man out as Punjab ended on 209 for nine in their 20 overs. For Bangalore the best bowlers were Harshal Patel (4-34) and Wanindu Hasaranga (2-15).
In their chase, Bangalore were reduced to 40 for three. A 64 run stand for the fourth wicket between Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar revived the chase.
