IPL 2022 MI vs DC, 69th Match Preview: Equation simple for Delhi Capitals, win and qualify
A victory for Delhi Capitals will mark an end to Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL 2022 campaign.
All Delhi need is a win
Delhi Capitals are currently placed at the 5th spot with 7 victories from 13 matches. Another win will propel them to the 4th spot, ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore and the team will make it to the Eliminator.
The top three spots have already been taken by Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants respectively. This match will not be about net run rate but victory and defeat as there is too large a gap between the net run rate of Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore to make any difference.
The equation for Delhi thus is quite simple. All they have to do is to win against Mumbai Indians, even if it is by one wicket or on the last ball of the match and they will qualify for the playoffs.
Delhi have put together two consecutive victories for the first time, beating Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets and Punjab Kings by 17 runs in their last two matches.
The scary thing about the Rishabh Pant-led side is that they still haven't played anywhere close to their best and on the day that both their batting and bowling fires together, they will be very tough to stop.
Chances for MI's bench
Mumbai Indians on the other hand have won 3 of their last 5 matches after suffering 8 defeats on the trot to begin with.
Captain Rohit Sharma brought in spinners Mayank Markande and Sanjay Yadav into the playing XI in their last match and said that there will be a few more opportunities for the fringe players in their last match of the season with Mumbai having been already knocked out of the competition.
Sarfaraz Khan can give DC explosive start
Sarfaraz Khan looked threatening for Delhi, opening the batting in their last match and looks like the perfect replacement for the ill Prithvi Shaw.
Bigger things are expected from Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav in this crucial match.
