Ireland And Sri Lanka Denied By Rain

Ireland v Sri Lanka - match abandoned
Tri-Series One-Day International, Edinburgh

Ireland and Sri Lanka were left frustrated as the first match in the One-Day International tri-series in Edinburgh was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy overnight rain prevented any chance of a timely start and although the ground began to dry as the weather brightened later in the day, further rain arrived to deny the teams any opportunity of play.

Ireland are due to meet Scotland on 12th July before Sri Lanka play the hosts on 13th July as they complete their tour of the United Kingdom.

Today's game would have been the first meeting between the sides since the , where Sri Lanka bowled Ireland out for 77 on their way to a clinical eight-wicket win.
