Ireland Inter-Provincial Cup about to get underway on the 15th of May, with the reigning champions Munster Reds locking horns against North West Warriors at the Mardyke in Cork.
Top Tournament Stats - Ireland Inter-Provincial Cup 2023
A total of twelve 50 over matches and the eighteen 20 over matches will be played during the competition that lasts until September.
The four teams participating in the competition are Munster Reds, Northern Knights, North West Warriors and Leinster Lightening.
There are a couple of major changes to the squads in this year's edition of Inter Provincial Cup. In a notable development, Harry Tector has made a move to the Leinster Lightening squad while Mark Adair has been handed over the captaincy of Northern Knights team. Kevin O'Brien has also moved to Munster Reds for the upcoming season. The South African seamer Liam McCarthy has also moved to represent Munster Reds.
Inter Provincial Cup has undergone a drastic change as Ireland Cricket has decided to use the platform to pitch the true best v best. It will boost the competition in the country and will reap fruits for their international expeditions. The Chair of National Men’s Selectors, National Head Coach and Provincial Union Head Coaches, overseen by the High Performance Director have identified a core squad for the 4 teams with 12 players per side.
