Irfan Pathan replaces Dwayne Bravo in Gujarat Lions squad
India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been announced as a replacement for Dwayne Bravo in the Gujarat Lions squad for the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL).
Bravo was recently ruled out of the tournament after failing to recover from a hamstring injury that he sustained during the Big Bash League.
Meanwhile, Pathan, who had a base price of INR 50 lacs went unsold in the auction conducted in February despite having made over 150 appearances at the international level previously.
The 27-year-old has also recorded 102 appearances in the IPL in which he has snared 80 wickets at an economy of 7.74 and has represented Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Rising Pune Supergiants and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous editions.
The news was confirmed the official Twitter handle of Gujarat Lions.
"An unfortunate departure of a champion gives opportunity to another. Welcome to the family, @IrfanPathan!"
Gujarat Lions are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with just two wins from seven games and are slated to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore next at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.
