
Jacques Kallis appointed as chief mentor of Trinbago Knight Riders
Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has joined the Trinbago Knight Riders franchise in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as the chief mentor for the 2016 season.
Kallis, who is currently the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the Indian Premier League, played 13 games for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2015 edition and scored 304 runs as the side clinched their maiden CPL title.
Simon Hemlot, the head coach of the Trinbago Knight Riders has welcomed the appointment of Kallis and is looking forward to work with the 40-year-old.
"We are very glad to have the legend on-board in the TKR set-up as Chief Mentor and I look forward to working with him closely this year,” said Hemlot.
The owners of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise had acquired a stake in the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel franchise in 2015 and renamed the side as Trinbago Knight Riders.
Kallis also played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL from 2011 to 2014 and was part of the victorious campaigns in 2012 and 2014.
