JLT Sheffield Shield Final: Will Pucovski and Harry Conway Audio

Victoria hold the upper hand after day three of the JLT Sheffield Shield Final at CitiPower Centre, Junction Oval in Melbourne.

With a lead of 375 runs in the second innings, Victoria ended the day on 7-207 after scoring 299 in their first innings.

Rain delayed the start of play over an hour on day three before the covers were removed.

New South Wales spearhead Sean Abbott (3-75) struck early with the ball once the match restarted, dismissing Victoria captain Travis Dean for 25.

Three overs following the dismissal, play was again suspended due to poor weather conditions as the rain covers were reapplied. Players returned to the field after lunch as conditions improved.

Victoria continued to build on their lead as batsman Will Pucovski (51) and wicketkeeper Seb Gotch (20) combined for a solid 68 run partnership.

Cameron White (36) and Matt Short (26) also provided some resistance to the New South Wales bowling attack while James Pattinson (9*) and Peter Siddle (2*) remained at the crease when stumps called two overs early due to poor light.

Despite falling further behind on day three, the Blues still proved handy with the ball. In addition to Abbott’s 3 wicket haul, Harry Conway (2-31) and Steve O’Keefe (1-32) were the only other wicket takers for the day.
