Karachi Kings 135-5 (Denly 29) beatPeshawar Zalmi 131-9 (Smith 71no) by five wickets7th game, Pakistan Super League, DubaiScorecard
An unbeaten 71-run knock from Dwayne Smith did not prove enough as Karachi Kings went to beat Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets in the seventh game of the Pakistan Super League in Dubai.
Chasing 132 for a victory, Karachi Kings lost Khurram Manzoor (6) early but Joe Denly (29) and Babar Azam (28) consolidated with a 41-run stand while Colin Ingram (23) provided the right impetus with a 14-ball cameo.
Peshawar Zalmi had their chances especially with the poor running of Karachi batsmen, but they couldn't quite capitalise on it.
Ravi Bopara (17 not out) and Mohammad Rizwan (19) too played their part as the target came down to seven runs off the final two overs which they achieved with two deliveries to spare and five wickets in hand.
Earlier, Peshawar looked totally out of sorts but Smith (71 not out) saved them from humiliation with his 51-ball unbeaten knock in an innings where the second highest score came from Kamran Akmal (14).
Smith smashed four boundaries and five sixes in his innings to help Peshawar post 131 for nine in the 20 overs.
This is Peshawar's second defeat in three games as they are placed fourth in the table while Karachi are at the pole position after winning both their games.
