Karunaratne stars with a hundred in a drawn encounter

Dimuth Karunaratne brought up a boundary-filled century starring in a day of good returns for Sri Lankans, who scored 200 for four in the second innings before declaring as the tour match against Leicestershire ended in a draw on the third day and final day.
Leicestershire resumed the innings on the overnight score of 304 for five. Tom Wells (87 not out) and Rob Taylor (37 not ou) continued to bat without trouble.
The pair went on to post a 72-run stand in 22 overs, taking the score to 375 for five in 100 overs before declaring.
In reply, Sri Lankans replied strongly with Karunaratne (100 retired out) and Kaushal Silva (43) adding a 100-run opening stand in 23.5 overs. By the time the stand was broken, Karunaratne went past a fifty while Silva scored seven boundaries.
Taylor (1-29) castled Silva in the 24th over. Lahiru Thirimanne (40 not out) joined hands with Karunaratne to post a 79-run stand for the second wicket. Karunaratne brought up his 134-ball century and retired.
Sri Lanka lost Niroshan Dickwella (0) in the 48th over and while Milinda Siriwardana (0) fell in the 51st over.
After the fall of Siriwardana’s wicket and with the score at 200 for four in 50.2 overs, Sri Lanka declared their innings. The captains shook hands, ending the match in a draw.
