In the words of...

Saqib Nisar

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan

‘Kasim Feroze is incomparable, both as a professional banker and as a human being. A great personality, he is well liked by his friends, who are all very proud of his achievements in banking sector. He was my colleague at Government College, Lahore in the early 1970s when his enthusiasm for cricket was well-known to us. Over the years we have had good many opportunities to meet and exchange our views on a variety of subjects.’

Shaukat Tarin

Finance Minister of Pakistan & Silkbank

‘My association with Kasim Feroze kicked off at Union Bank and nowadays he holds one of the top executive seats in Silk Bank. It will not be an exaggeration to say that he is one the sturdiest pillars behind Silk Bank’s success. In the banking world, his professionalism, dedication and loyalty has never been in question and I am also proud to claim Kasim as a family friend. I also refer him as a ‘Cool Cat’ for he can handle pressure better than most of us and also deliver when it matters most. Beside many qualities, he also seems an expert in long-lasting relationship with friends and colleagues – evidence of people’s great trust in him. The positive energy he exudes is an apt reflection of his mind set.’

Azmat Tarin

President, Chief Executive & Director at Silkbank

‘I came in contact with Kasim Feroze back in 1999 when I was appointed Director-Retail in Union Bank Ltd. and he was based in Sargodha as a Branch Manager. I can assure you this 22 years-span, has been a delightful passage of my life, to say the least. He has been equally impressive both on professional and friendship level.’

‘In his banking career, he leaves nothing to chance and I have always rated him as an outstanding professional, primarily based on his being pretty resourceful. I can also vouch for his great commitment with considerable degree of confidence for he has reported directly to me, in a number of banking roles, over the years. His loyalty to his employers has never been in question for he has declined quite a few offers to part with our family.’

‘Kasim enjoys a lofty reputation as most helpful and friendly individual. There are very good reasons for the grievances to reach his table prior to anyone else for he is often than not seen as the best man to take issues of the staff to the senior management. His genuine desire to resolve issues of the lower staff could not possibly go a miss. All the more praiseworthy, to my mind, for he has never held any human resource portfolio but still remains the most sought after individual, in hour of need. As a caring human being his compassionate nature comes across so vividly, for he usually goes an extra mile.’

Javed Miandad

Pakistan Cricket Captain

‘Kasim Feroze played alongside our group of players that toured England with Pakistan u-19 in 1974. In those days, cricket was not as popular as today and very few players from our domestic cricket were good enough to ‘risk’ taking up the game as a profession. Most of the cricketers, including Kasim, played the game for fun with an amateur approach. It was in the mid-1970s when big banks of the country offered employment to cricketers and some of us were lucky to also be signed up English counties Kasim after leaving cricket was able to focus hundred percent on his banking career and now stands as a very good example for the present generation. He did not waste any time and made a timely decision which proved a correct one. I have often spoken to my children about Kasim’s success in banking and his professionalism.’

Mirza Mohammad Afridi

Deputy Chairman Senate

‘I have known Kasim for good 14 years and he was a great help to me in his position as a senior executive banker. As a professional in banking, I know he must have faced many ups and downs but his energetic role in turning Silkbank into a profitable institution, must stand as one of his biggest achievements. His personality has some wonderful traits, all the more praiseworthy for they shine out in the day and age of time constraints and rat race. A mature outlook on life and clarity in communication and interaction, certainly remain his trademark.’

‘I have found Kasim to be a rare human being for he balances his professional commitments and reaching out to the needs of the not-so-fortunate, with such ease. His soft and modest nature allows him to overlook all barriers and focus on his moral duty to the social causes. He is certainly an inspiration for me on that score and I hope your article does the same to many in counselling to devote more time and resources to? our social obligations.’

‘Kasim is a complete family man and hence appreciates the scale of challenges faced by the population of Pakistan that is below poverty line. I truly believe he is a blessed soul for human causes are very close to his heart and for him it remains an ‘unfinished business’. His sincerity and commitment is never in doubt and I have seen him take a clear lead in unselfishly connecting his friends in developing business and family ties and networks.’

General (Retd) Tauqir Zia

PCB Chairman 1999-2003

‘I have admired Kasim for his professional integrity and his sense of humour. He was my brother Saad’s batch mate at Government College, Lahore in the 1970s. His academic brilliance took him into banking and he has made a name for himself as a senior executive at Silk Bank. It is hardly surprising to see him at the forefront of Silk Bank’s success but to his great credit, he remains humble, likable and approachable. In my days as PCB Chairman (1999-2003), I approached him to return to cricket management but his professional commitments did not allow him enough time to accept my offer. We have bumped into each other lately on a golf course in Lahore. I do intend to take him on one day in golf and look forward to his great company. A man of wonderful temperament, Kasim is well known for his PR skills and old-fashioned lasting friendship.’

Dr. Amjad Saqib

Author, Social Entrepreneur & Philanthropist

‘My introduction to the family was through Kasim’s older brother – Tariq Feroze, who was my contemporary at GC, Lahore. I do recall Kasim as a bright cricketer who had the potential to go on to the highest level. He had a smart head on his shoulder and it has led to a phenomenal success in the banking world. His commitment and management skills are talked about highly and I am pleased to be part of that group. In terms of temperament and inter-personal skills, he is close to flawless. He has developed leadership skills too and his calibre can be measured by the fact that he is right-hand man of Shaukat Tarin – the godfather of private banking and current finance minister of Pakistan. Our relationship is built on mutual respect and it is a matter of great pride and pleasure to see him reach the present position.’

Raja Arshad Khan

MD PTV & U Phone

‘I met Kasim as a Year 9 student at a High School in Chakwal in 1969-70. Although we went our own ways, both in education and career, we managed to stay in touch. He is both humble and sincere which makes him a very good friend and even better human being. I didn’t follow his cricket career but am fully aware of his great achievements as a banking tycoon. He fully deserves his success.’

Brig. Zaheer Akhtar

Director-General Pakistan Army Sports

‘It was my school days in Sargodha in the 1986-90 period that I got to know of Kasim Feroze’s deep-rooted love for sports. He was managing a United Bank branch and assured his presence on all major sporting events in the city. He was well known for going out of his way to attend to the welfare of sportsmen and his support was greatly appreciated at grassroots level and a step above. Although himself a cricketer, like most of us, he too would like to see out national game hockey and other sports in Pakistan, to flourish and become competitive at international level.’

‘As a seasoned banking professional, one could rely on a sound advice from Kasim and his extremely helpful approach. As someone with caring and loving nature, he leaves no stone unturned, to provide sportsmen with affection and wholehearted support. I am also aware of the fact that he prides in keeping high standards of customer-friendly environment, right across the board. No wonder he is well liked and well respected in his present role with Silkbank.’

Aslam Malik

Senior Banker

‘I know Kasim for almost 25 years and met him first whilst he was posted as Branch Manager of UBL in Sargodha. As a Zonal Head of the bank, it didn’t take me long to appreciate that he had an outstanding banking acumen. He has fully deserved his success and I am also so pleased for him to have taken my son under his wings at SILKBANK Ltd. My son could not have chosen a better mentor, in my view. At times I think the word ‘professionalism’ was invented for Kasim, as he continues to live up to his reputation.’

‘After initially making name as a cricketer, he has shown great commitment to his profession. His unflappable temperament is coupled with a strong desire to help the lower and deprived classes of Pakistan population. I can personally vouch for the fact that hundreds of families, all over the country, have benefited from his generosity and kindness. He much prefers for the noble acts that Allah has given him the strength to perform, not to enter the public domain, as he considers it his human duty and not to enhance his image.’

Naseem Javaid Khan

Counsel General – Sri Lanka Embassy, Islamabad

'I have known Kasim Feroze for the last two decades and he is a devoted friend and a gem of a person in all respects. We have seen how generous he is with time and resources to help everyone, regardless of a person's status. There are hundreds of examples of such acts and it a privilege to consider such a fine human being, as a close friend. ‘

‘His professional standing is well-known in the banking world and I have no doubt in saying that Silkbank is in its present state, because of Kasim and the Tarin brothers - Shaukat and Azmat. The trio have pulled Silkbank out of the crisis with their dynamic and visionary leadership. As an old Ravian, Kasim enjoys popularity in a wide social circle. I have not heard a bad word said against him and it is always a joy to catch up with him. As a well-intended family-orientated gentleman, he is a blessed soul and my best wishes are with him.'

Aalishan Zaidi

Senior Banker

‘I was introduced to Kasim Feroze in 2007 when we were work colleagues at Standard Chartered Bank. Always found him honest, upright and ever so eager to help - both the organisation and the customers. His ‘positive aura’ could not possibly go a miss. His calm and collective demeanour too has always stood out. Also had few opportunities to travel abroad for banking conferences with Kasim and again he came across as a humble, positive and jovial soul. In fact a real joy to work with. He has always taken great deal of pride in representing Pakistan, both at cricket and as a professional banker.’

‘As a human being, his caring nature and going out of his way to help the needy are remarkable qualities in this day and age. I didn’t follow him in his cricket playing days but am aware of his passion for the game. His knowledge of the game does not come as a surprise and his competitive streak I am told as a cricketer has helped him considerably in reaching where he is MaashAllah, in the banking world.’

Kausar Iqbal Malik

Senior Banker

‘I first came across Kasim Feroze – better known as KFK in the banking industry - in 2005 when I was serving as Director General of Banking Wing at county’s apex anti-corruption body -The National Accountability Bureau, NAB Headquarters, Islamabad , Pakistan. My major interaction at NAB HQ was with Senior Bank Executives, who used to represent their banks for resolution of chronic loan default and bank fraud cases of their institutions. It is a highly-skilled portfolio, entrusted to an individual of a certain standing and I found KFK above par in all such matters of high integrity.’

‘KFK is a charismatic personality that attracts instant friendship. His professional knowhow and wide social circle make a fine combination of his ability to influence people, leaving a legacy of love, care and continuity of cordial relationship. I have always found him as a humble, straight forward and a caring soul who takes pain to resolve the sufferings of people around him, be it his lower staff, peers, colleagues , needy people in his social circle or even people referred to him by his friends. A remarkable human being.’

Munir. A. Saleem

Senior Banker

‘I have known Kasim Feroze for more than three decades. I view him as a complete person for he combines professional expertise with great human qualities. I have closely followed his successful banking career and his work ethics makes him one of the best in Pakistan in his field. He is more than capable of representing his country at international level. Since 2013 we have been colleagues for I have taken up an advisory role in Silkbank and that has kept me in touch with him. His cool temperament and analytical mind are two well-admired traits of his personality. A team player who more than often than not is seen leading from the front’

Ghulam Mayyuddin

Senior Film & TV artist

‘Our friendship stretches back to 30 plus years and I have viewed Kasim as an ideal personality. He in fact has magnetic powers to attract people towards him. As a former sportsman, he has a big heart and accommodates friends from all walks of life. Two of the best qualities that I have seen in him are that he loves his friends and is always concerned about them and secondly he constantly keeps himself engaged in various events and projects that promote social interaction. He has represented artists’ cricket team on a number of occasions at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, National Stadium, Karachi, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore and LCCA Ground. Our meetings, even in Silkbank, continue to be dominated by cricket – our joint passion.’

Asad Rauf

ICC Elite Test Umpire 2005-13

‘I have great regard for Kasim and recall his bowling action in the days when he used to bowl teams out with his slow left-arm, representing Government College, Lahore. We both went in different ways in our careers and for that reason we have not met for almost 35 years. He holds an executive position as a highly accomplished banker and we now intend to catch up, once covid-19 restricts are lifted. Since my retirement from umpiring in the 2012-13 winter, I have been able to stay in touch with Kasim and his messages are always positive, a reflection of his personality. He has a strong network of contacts and it is an honour to be counted as one of his friends. As a fellow Ravian, I am sure we will soon revisit our Alma Mater, to revive great memories, from the past.’

Mudassar Nazar

Pakistan Test Cricketer

‘As a very fine slow left-spinner, Kasim was part of a very strong Government College, Lahore team, who dominated inter-collegiate, inter-Board and inter-University competitions. As a third year student, he was picked for the 1974 Pakistan u-19 tour of England and six members of the squad, would go on to play for the national team. In the 2-3 year period that I played with and against him, I thought he was quite street smart for someone from Bahawalpur. I renewed contact with Kasim in 2000, when I took up coaching. He is now a well-established name in the banking world, holding prominent positions. He has facilitated a number of former cricketers, with their financial issues.’

Ijaz Ahmed Sr.

Pakistan Test Cricketer

‘Kasim Bhai is a wonderful human being and I am sure there are many who will back me on it. He has gone out of his way to help me on few occasions, including one when it was me against Pakistan’s leading batsmen and captain. As a former cricketer, he has done a lot for Pakistan players, particularly those struggling with employment or finances. It is ever so rare to see a God-fearing person, in such a high position, who would rather stick to his principles than entertain foul practices. I will also never forget how resilient he was, in the wake of a personal tragedy.’

Pir Mohammad Aminul Hasnat Shah

Politician & Religious Status

‘I enrolled at Government College, Lahore as a 3rd year student in 1973 and had the good fortune of sharing a hostel room with Kasim Feroze. It was beautiful times of our youth. Kasim was cricket crazy and was allowed to leave after initial two periods on the match days. He always updated us with his performance and his progress in the game. I recall him being heartbroken after he was ‘hard done’ by the national selectors.’

‘With his great work ethics, which is a hallmark of their family, Kasim rose from the bottom to now become one of the best known banking executives in Pakistan. He fully deserves his success. He along with Tareen family has made sure Silkbank was a huge success and as one of the pioneers of private banking, it didn’t surprise me at all. He is a delightful personality and one does not look any further for financial help or advice. Kasim has played a key role in organizing a number of events of old Ravians which help us to keep in touch with each other.’

Sikander Bakht

Pakistan Test Cricketer & Analysist

'Kasim was a United Bank colleague in the mid-1970s and it was a shame that he didn't persist for long. There were very few slow left-arm bowlers in Pakistan who could regularly bowl chinaman as a wicket-taking delivery. It was a fascinating sight to watch Kasim, with his bagful of variety and it would have been great fun to watch him in modern times, particularly in white-ball cricket. Since United Bank had skipper Khurshid Ahmed as first choice, Kasim at that stage, though still not 20, opted to focus on a career. It was a smart move and it has paid off handsomely.'

'As a banking professional, he has been a great help to all the sportsmen, including cricketers, for the last four decades. I as a customer of Silkbank have never been disappointed, since Kasim is only a phone call away. He remains to this day, the most helpful and co-operative banking official. The human warmth of Kasim is never in question and we cricketers are very pleased with his successful career. His passion for cricket is still there as he turns up in friendly matches with cinema and TV artists. A big thumbs up from me.'

Shahbaz Sheikh

General Secretary Old Ravian Association

‘Kasim Feroze was senior to me at Government College, Lahore and since our cricket ground was not within the boundaries of the college, I did not follow cricket as much as I would have liked to. As an officer-bearer of the student union, perhaps I was also pre-occupied with other matters. I took it upon myself to revive the Old Ravian Association in 1982 and was delighted when Kasim joined us as its Chairman of the Management Committee.’

‘His success story in Pakistan banking sector could not possibly be achieved without high level of professionalism. Kasim has proved his worth by working alongside the big guns – the Tarin brothers – and has often been credited with turning around the fortunes of financial institutions. Despite reaching the top of his profession, his feet are firmly on the ground for he goes out of his way in keeping abreast with the well-being of his low-income staff members. An association with such a balanced and successful individual, is a matter of pride for myself.’

Mubashar Luqman

Senior Media Anchor

‘Kasim was an excellent cricketer for Bahawalpur and at Government College, Lahore, He could have done much better had he been a selfish player. He much preferred to see his team doing well than him achieving personal milestones. Hailing from Bahawalpur was certainly a disadvantage for small towns and cities were often knocked out in the first round of first-class tournaments. In terms of his career, he has done exceedingly well. I speak as a client in rating him very high as a professional banker and his accomplishments are well known to all. His qualities as a human being, at times, seem to overshadow everything else.’

Dr. Danish

Senior Media Anchor

‘I was too young to follow Kasim’s brief cricket career but have known him for the last 18 months. He is a man of great qualities and deserves the executive posts, he has held in the banking sector. A couple of those qualities that stand out for me is the fact that he is a very good listener and would do his utter most to resolve banking issues presented to him. Secondly he has remained in touch with ordinary folks of Pakistan and that aspect of his personality, has endeared him to many. With a strong sense of patriotism, he remains humble and polite, on his way to contributing to a progressive Pakistan.’

Asim Malik

Banking & TV Anchor

‘Since the very beginning, Kasim Feroze’s career has been both iconic and exemplary, having set a template for future generations. As a professional banker he has always been very passionate, not just with numbers but also about his staff. He is well known for turnaround results in most challenging situations. His honesty, pro-active approach and sound judgments have won him applause and performance certificates throughout his career thus proving him an asset for a number of banks.’

‘Kasim opted out of cricket at a very young age, primarily through personal conviction. Not surprisingly his passion for the sport has never left him because KFK and cricket goes hand in gloves with each other till today reflecting his short analysis available on media upon tournaments and by fore-fronting personal services and counsel to many seasoned and young upcoming cricketers.’

‘I see Kasim as someone with soft feet on a desert sand, hardly making any noise but leaving a clear impression in the lives of many. He is someone who retains a very impressive balance between Deen (Islamic obligations) and Dunya (worldly affairs). A real Alpha in the banking world, yet very sensitive, logical and emotional. His constant review of strategies and operational checks, have helped improve not only performance of his staff but services to its clients too. His retirement is set to leave behind a massive vacuum in the banking profession.’

PJ Mir

Pakistan ODI Player, Political Anchor & Analyst

‘I was appointed captain of the Government College cricket side in the 1972-73 winter and our squad included a soft-spoken slow-left-arm bowler from Bahawalpur – Kasim Feroze. He was an outstanding bowler since he flighted the ball and had enough variety, including a rare chinaman, to trouble most opponents in our inter-collegiate cricket. The quality of cricket at grassroots level was much higher than the modern day but there were limited avenues to flourish or prove your worth.’

‘Kasim was briefly part of the domestic first-class cricket but suffered due to oversight and favouritism practised by the national selectors. In the 1970s, the players were being picked for Pakistan from just Lahore or Karachi. There was not enough international cricket for the national selectors to have a larger pool of players and develop second and third XI. Apart from Kasim, I can also think of few more players – Masood Iqbal, Taslim Arif, Jamshed Hussain, etc. – who deserved more opportunities. Kasim, without a shadow of a doubt, is one of the real gentlemen, amongst former cricketers in Pakistan. A real gem of a person with a sense of humour.’

Mian Mohammad Aslam

ICC Elite Test Umpire

‘Kasim Feroze was a talented slow left-arm bowler who emerged in the days when I was managing Punjab u-19 team. For someone from Bahawalpur he established himself very quickly in Lahore and was seen as a match-winner in his four-year period at Government College. Although he has led an extremely busy life as a top-ranking banker, he has not taken eyes off cricket and cricket players. He continues to take great interest in the welfare of cricketers and is very popular with his cool-minded approach to life.’

Agha Zahid

Pakistan Test Cricketer & PCB Chief Curator

‘We invited Kasim Feroze from Bahawalpur to come and play for Cantt Gymkhana and he fitted very well in our team. Then as a captain of Government College (GC), Lahore, I knew his qualities as a slow left-arm spinner and he along with Azhar Burki and Zafar Bhatti, was a spinning option for me. He has achieved a great deal in his banking career and it has given me lot of happiness and satisfaction to see him achieve his goals. He greets everyone with a smile and continues to have a soft corner for cricketers.’

Azhar Khan

Pakistan Test Cricketer

‘Kasim Feroze is a loving person and it has been my good fortune to know him and we share some memorable moments of our cricket playing days. We were both in Government College, Lahore team and Kasim also accompanied Pakistan u-19 team tour of England for which I was appointed captain by A.H.Kardar. A touch frustrated, Kasim quit the game whilst in his teens when the national selectors leaned towards Farrukh Zaman and Iqbal Qasim, for a slow left-arm option. A sharp focus on career proved a smart move and he has done so well for himself in reaching executive positions in banking. Despite reaching the very top, he remains decent and down to earth for all and that speaks volume of his family that originated from Bahawalpur.’

Sultan Rana

First-class cricketer & Asian Cricket Council

‘I recall our period of playing in a strong Government College (GC), Lahore team with Kasim Feroze, a quality slow left-arm spinner in our line-up. We often laugh about a match between two combined XIs in which he picked up 4-5 wickets, with three batsmen caught in the slips by yours truly, but still found himself being taken off by the captain. He has always remained lively and friendly character. With so much competition in Pakistan’s domestic cricket, he very shrewdly chose banking career at a very young age. With more exposure, he had the potential to further develop but was perhaps upset at being overlooked by the selectors. Since not many cricketers were academically strong, it is great to see a fellow cricketer, doing so well in his profession.’

Aamer Hameed

Pakistan ODI Player & Servis Industries

‘Kasim took me by surprise by quitting cricket at such a young age, for I remember him as a promising slow left-arm spinner in our days at Government College, Lahore. He was all set to enjoy considerable success at first-class level but opted to call it a day for a banking career. I recall him as a fellow cricketer with an easy going nature, who was a great company off the field without compromising his competitive instincts on the field. In the banking world, his association with Tarin family and Silkbank, speaks volume of his capabilities and shows how well he has done for himself. One can argue he has worked in a ‘protective’ environment but he earned that right through sharp focus and hard work. Kasim can take pride in his professional achievements and also in the proactive role he plays in the Old Ravian Association.’

Mirza Iqbal Baig

Senior sports anchor

‘I have confirmation from both Javed Miandad and Azhar Khan that Kasim Feroze was a quality slow left-arm spinner. He unfortunately didn’t continue with cricket but has gone on to make a name for himself as a top-class professional banker. He has reached the peak of his chosen career and as one of few educated cricketers, his success in banking, has not come as a surprise to his close friends. An articulate individual, he has always come across as a sophisticated but very helpful human being.’

Javed Ilyas

Pakistan u-19 player

‘I had known Kasim and his family quite well since they had their base in Multan. He enrolled at Government College, Lahore and met with immediate success. Myself and Kasim were picked for the 1974 Pakistan u-19 tour of England and we spent considerable time together. I believe he could have been asked to bowl more than he was on English wickets. Within next couple of years, he would take a tough decision of giving up cricket for he felt unless you had a strong affiliation with Karachi or Lahore, you stood a very slim chance of national recognition. An educated and ambitious family environment, proved a catalyst for his successful banking career. He has not looked back and with his calm temperament and sharp PR skills, Kasim remains a popular and well-sought after personality.’

Imran Nazarul Islam

Film & Drama Producer

‘Kasim is a good friend, who possesses number of qualities. His straight and honest approach as a CEO of a leading bank, is quite rare, at least in our country. Even in difficult times, he seems to have a sense of composure that enables him to co-op better than most of us. His versatility was proven to me when he agreed to bungee jump and on another occasion, got us out of sticky situation by agreeing to do a 3-4 scenes in a drama production, during his lunch break. I have also found him a very good human being, who is striving to become a very good Muslim too. He is a contented soul and that reflects in his approach to life. Myself and my family owe Kasim a big thank you for his wholehearted help and support.’

Suleman Farooqi

Punjab u-19 cricketer

‘I will never forget Kasim bowling me out first ball in the opening round of the single-wicket tournament at Islamia High School, Lahore Cantt. It was quite embarrassing to be dismissed in that fashion, by an upcoming bowler from Bahawalpur. I got to know him better and found him to be a thorough gentleman. We recently got in touch with each other after so many years and it was good to catch up on ‘good old days’. He is a very nice personality and has done well for himself, as one of the top bankers in Pakistan.’

Mrs. Nasreen Kasim

Wife & Homemaker

‘After marrying quite young at 21 Kasim gave up cricket to focus on family and his career and that after more than four decades, remains the case. Throughout our life together I have preferred to stay housewife and support Kasim and it has worked so well. It has perhaps helped him to balance his commitments much better, for he has taken a number of challenging positions in banking and followed an extremely busy schedule. A great life partner and by having a month off from work every year, we as a family have travelled both in Pakistan and to a number of overseas destinations. I have no reason to complain and am proud of the fact that my husband takes great pains in reaching out to people in need. We have finally seen him slowing down in 2021 and he have bit more time for social interaction.’

Ahmed Feroze Khan

Brother & Banking

‘Kasim Feroze has set a template for his siblings in various aspects of his life – private and profession. Amongst us seven brothers, he seemed the closer to our dear father, and there were very good reasons for that. His positive outlook and cool persona was bound to make him as our father’s favourite. His strong faith in Almighty Allah perhaps is his best quality. After our father’s retirement in 1990, Kasim was determined to take full care of our both parents.’

‘He has never given any impression, at least to me, of any regret at leaving cricket at such a young age. He has remained a true sportsman till this day and 4-5 years ago took up golf. Inspired by Tiger Woods’ feats, he entered the amateur golf scene in Lahore and amongst other prizes, has a ‘hole-in-one’ trophy to his name. His success in the banking world is well documented and his integrity and honesty has never been in question. It gives Kasim great satisfaction when he takes up the case for an ordinary man in the street which is very much part and parcel of his professional commitment.

‘As his younger sibling, I was delighted at his selection for 1974 Pakistan u-19 tour of England. I recall a newspaper headline, ‘Kasim bowls Pak u-19 to victory’ and a Gray Nicholls bat that he gifted me after arriving back. He could not carry on in the game and switched all his energies to his career. He has a remarkable personality for despite his success in banking profession, he remains modest and humble and sees no reason to change. Honesty is the hallmark of his life and he remains popular at all levels of his profession and in the society in general.’

‘Amongst us seven brothers, we have all done very well in our chosen fields but Kasim is the ‘crown’ of our family and a role model to the younger generation. His regimental time-keeping reminds me of our late father and no wonder he was the favourite son. Tarin family has great trust in his ability and he is a right hand man to Shaukat Tarin – the current Finance Minister of Pakistan.’

Mohammed Bin Kasim

Son & Property Developer

‘From a very young age, I saw my father as a role model. His sportsman stature, professional career and strong human values, carry him through in all situations. I followed him in banking and he was very proud of my achievements at a very young age with UBL and ABN AMRO. Now that I have switched over to take on fresher challenges in another domain, after initial reservation, he has proved to be a staunch supporter. My father has refused the ruthless nature of the banking and corporate world, to have any negative impact on his family life. He likes to lead the way when it comes to the less-privileged classes of our society. The great Javed Miandad once confessed that he didn’t want his sons to play cricket and instead follow the example of Kasim Feroze.’

Tameen Wajahat

Daughter, motivator & homemaker

‘My father has taken up a number of challenging posts in the banking world, which at times can be very stressful. He is quite used to burning the midnight oil, more so when it came to negotiating the challenges set by investment bankers. His positive outlook has certainly been his ally in seriously tough times, both in his professional and family life.’

‘I look back at him as a strong and devoted father, who continues to strive for the very best for his children. His ability to stay composed in even the most traumatic of circumstances, is something we often talk about in the family. He has had an extremely fruitful life and this could not have been achieved without him standing up to pressure and fulfilling his commitments and obligations. He loves travelling around the world and that appetite is not showing any signs of diminishing.’
