Kesrick Williams bowl Jamaica Tallawahs to two run victory
Jamaica Tallawahs 128-7 (Phillips 51) beat
Guyana Amazon Warriors 126-4 (Williams 3-30) by two runs
15th match, Caribbean Premier League, Providence Stadium
Kesrick Williams bowled a splendid spell that included a three wicket haul as Jamaica Tallawahs sealed a thrilling two run victory against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 15th game of the Caribbean Premier League at Providence Stadium on Friday.
Chasing 129 to win, Chadwick Walton (37) and Martin Guptill (33) got Guyana Amazon Warriors to a decent start of 33 for naught in the powerplay. The 50-run stand between the duo came off 48 deliveries.
Guptill was handed a reprieve when he was dropped by Kumar Sangakkara in the ninth over and at halfway mark, Guyana were positioned 61 for naught.
Jamaica continued to be sloppy in the field as they put down another chance, this time Walton was the batsman. However, things quickly changed for the visitors as Williams (3-30) and Garey Mathurin (1-29) removed both the openers in successive overs.
Babar Azam (23) and Jason Mohammed (24 not out) were slow to get off, but with eight wickets in hand 8 to get off the final over, Guyana looked favourites to win.
However, Williams bowled a splendid final over where he conceded just five runs and picked the wickets of Azam and Roshon Primus (0) to seal a two run win for Jamaica.
