Kevin Pietersen has backed newly appointed England OneDay International skipper Eoin Morgan to have a successful campaign in the upcoming Cricket World Cup.

Morgan took over the reigns in ODIs after his predecessor Alastair Cook was sacked due to a dismal performance with the bat and a poor ODI captaincy record.

As captain, Morgan has scored 548 runs in 11 games with an average of 68.50 including two centuries.

Pietersen, who has been a staunch supporter of Morgan, is confident of England doing well, especially in the batting department with Ian Bell at the top of batting line-up.

"Now they have got Eoin Morgan as skipper, I think England are going to go really well. They are getting scores over 300 and Ian Bell is batting beautifully," Pietersen was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

Pietersen, however, has expressed concerns about England's bowling, specifically Stuart Broad, who looked a bit jaded after his comeback.

"Jimmy Anderson looks great but Broady doesn’t look quite right. He’s not bowling as fast as he could which might be down to coming back off his knee injury. Hopefully he will get a bit faster."

Meanwhile Lancashire coach Ashley Giles has ruled out a bid to bring Pietersen to Old Trafford this summer, despite admitting he remains a top talent in the T20 format.
