Kieron Pollard To Lead Mumbai Indians In Champions League T20
One day before the Champions League T20 begins, Mumbai Indians have named the West Indian all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, as the new captain after Rohit Sharma was ruled out with a fractured finger.
The defending champions begin their campaign with the qualifier game against Lahore Lions this Saturday (13th September).
Kieron Pollard joined the Mumbai Indians during the third season of the Indian Premier League and since then, there has been no looking back for the dashing all-rounder.
"It is very unfortunate that Rohit will be unable to lead the team, and I take this opportunity to wish him a fast comeback. I truly understand that it is a huge honour and a privilege to captain the vibrant Mumbai Indians side, and thank the team management for bestowing their faith in me," Pollard was quoted as saying in a press release.
"I am aware of the great expectations ahead of us. However, I am confident that together, we will face the challenges, and work towards retaining the glory and the stature of the Mumbai Indians team," the all-rounder further stated.
Mumbai Indians now will need to act quickly in getting their combination right with Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga a certainty, only two among Michael Hussey, Lendl Simmons and Corey Anderson can feature in the eleven.
Pollard also led Barbados Tridents to a Caribbean Premier League championship win earlier this year.
