By the time this match starts, the playoffs spots could well be sealed and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) might well be regretting their sloppy form in the middle to end stages of the tournament. To call their form sloppy would be an understatement. Abysmal is perhaps the correct word to describe their performances which saw them give up a strong start to the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings – LWLWL
Kings XI Punjab - LLLLW
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be looking to get a solid performance on their board as they look to set their recent record straight of alternative wins and losses. They were embarrassed by the Delhi Daredevils in their last game and with one last game to play at home, they would certainly not want to disappoint their fans.
The season has been a good learning curve for many teams, especially the Kings XI. While many questioned CSK for picking an ageing side, KXIP were lauded for making a few brilliant picks as well as a few questionable ones. As the season comes to an end, KXIP have more questions to answer as compared to CSK. One never knows if tomorrow might be the last time one sees Yuvraj Singh play a game in an international level tournament and it has been painful to watch him throughout the season. Come tomorrow, his fans would be hoping to see the southpaw score a few runs!
The plan has been fairly simple against KXIP – get KL Rahul and Chris Gayle out and the others will follow. Aaron Finch did manage to get a meaningful score in his last outing but that was not enough to make up for the fragile middle order. The plan will be pretty much similar for CSK as they look to get into the playoffs on a winning note.
Whether KXIP will stand a chance would depend on results of three other matches. With Kolkata and Mumbai having better run rates than them, the task would no doubt be an uphill one. Regardless of the result, there would be a lot at stake for Kings XI – be it their performance as a unit or for individual players.
Expect an unchanged eleven from CSK.
Chennai Super Kings – Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Sam Billings, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Lungi Ngidi, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar
Mujeeb ur Rahman should come back in for Marcus Stoinis, if fit.
Kings XI Punjab – KL Rahul (wk), Chris Gayle, Manoj Tiwary, Yuvraj Singh, Aaron Finch, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin (c), Andrew Tye, Marcus Stoinis/Mujeeb ur Rahman, Mohit Sharma, Ankit Rajpoot
