KKR vs DC IPL 2021 Preview: 28th Sept - Delhi's firepower pitted against the mystery of Chakravarthy and Narine
Delhi have the best bowling line-up across all the eighth franchises and this is one of the biggest reasons why they are all but assured of a top two finish.
No Stoinis, no problem
The biggest worry for Delhi was the fitness of Marcus Stoinis who has injured his hamstring. The team took a brave move to bring in spin bowling all rounder Lalit Yadav in place of Stoinis and played just three overseas players in Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Shimron Hetmyer.
Yadav scored 14 off 15 deliveries and did not need to bowl as Delhi pocketed a comfortable 33 run victory in their last match against RR.
DC's middle order fires
Delhi will expect more out of openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. However, the good thing for them is that Shreyas Iyer has begun to fire instantly after his return to the side and made yet another important contribution against Rajasthan.
There were runs from the blade of Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer as well and the Delhi middle order looks to be in good health.
Best bowling unit
Their bowling of course is top-notch. The new ball bowling pair of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje is as good as they come. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel are also bowling well in tandem and have done enough to keep leg spinner Amit Mishra out. Avesh Khan has also held his own.
An all-round unit gives Delhi a good chance to earn another two points when they meet Kolkata Knight Riders at Sharjah. However, they will be posed a different challenge altogether.
Chakravarthy, Narine pose threat for DC
The pair of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine has caused a lot of problems to almost all batting units and it will be interesting to see how the firepower of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer tackles them with the relaid square at Sharjah taking a lot of turn.
Kolkata's batting line up has also begun to fire with Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi in good form. Captain Eoin Morgan is using his mystery spinners quite effectively and saving a few of their overs at the death.
With that in mind, Delhi's best chance will be to bat first, set up a target and let the stronger suit, their bowling, to the job.
