Australian pacer Shaun Tait has been added to the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as a replacement for the injured John Hastings.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Tait, who went unsold in the player auction earlier this year has already joined Kolkata Knight Riders squad on Wednesday.

The report further said that Tait was present during the training session with the Kolkata Knight Riders but did not bowl as he only arrived a few hours prior to the session.

Hastings suffered an ankle injury after playing two games in the IPL and returned to Australia to undergo a surgery.

The injury also ruled Hastings out of the tri- series in West Indies and Scot Boland was picked as a replacement by the Australian selectors.

Tait is no stranger to the IPL, having previously played for the Rajasthan Royals and has 23 wickets from 21 matches in the tournament.

In the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League, Tait featured for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise and took 10 wickets from 10 matches and maintained an economy rate of 7.48 runs per over.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently placed third in the points table with 12 points after winning six out of the 10 games they have played in this season.
