Kusal Perera added to Sri Lankan Test squad
Perera has recently been cleared of doping charges by the International Cricket Council and he was allowed to resume playing cricket with immediate effect.
In a report on ESPNcricinfo, Sri Lanka's chief selector Sanath Jayasuriya was quoted as saying that the reason for the ehind inclusion of Perera in place of Prasad was that the squad already had enough bowlers.
Jayasuriya also said that Perera will be included in the team as soon as he gets used to the conditions and has some practice under his belt.
"Kusal will join the team as soon as possible and acclimatise so he can do some serious work with the bat," Jayasuriya said.
After his suspension was lifted by the ICC, Perera started to train at the board’s National Academy in Khettarama since 13th of May.
Having lost the first Test against England in Leeds by an innings and 88-runs, the second Test in Durham is a must-win game for Sri Lanka if they are to harbour any hopes of winning the series.
