Lancashire started the day well withTom Bailey (4-54) taking the remaining Essex wickets, bowling Essex out for 302, giving them a one run lead, after the 1st innings. Essex added 81, for the loss of four wickets, to their overnight score of 221-6. However, the day was about to go downhill fast for the home side.

Essex 302 ( Alastair Cook 58, Tom Westley 41,Ryan ten Doeschate 48; Joe Mennie 3-40, Tom Bailey 4-54) and 108-5.
In their second innings, Lancashire capitulated to 105 all out and if it wasn’t for Joe Mennie 32* that could have been a lot worse! Jamie Porter 5-30 and Simon Harmer 4-34 starred with the ball for Essex.
In reply, Essex scored 108-5 and won by 5 wickets, Ravi Bopara seeing them home with 36* after Graham Onions took 3 early wickets for Lancashire, to give the County Champions a bit of a scare!
