Lancashire Sign Up Ten Of The Best

Lancashire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that ten of the county’s best young talents have committed their futures to the Club. As part of an ongoing process, Cricket Manager Mike Watkinson recently entered into contract talks with Lancashire’s uncapped players. As a result, ten players have been agreed new contracts or contract extensions. Another aspect that will please Red Rose supporters is that all ten are products of the successful Lancashire Development Programme, with no less than seven coming through the Club’s Academy which was introduced back in 2002. On completing these contract talks, Mike Watkinson says, "We have high hopes for all ten players, as they will form the backbone of our senior squad in the years ahead. "Despite four No Results, a number of our younger players have had opportunities in this year’s Pro40 campaign. It has been very encouraging to see the energy, talent and commitment demonstrated by these players, and it bodes well for the future of Lancashire." Bowlers Simon Kerrigan and Stephen Cheetham have both signed 2-year contracts, their first professional contract, after impressing everyone with their second team and club performances this over the past couple of seasons. Others to sign new contracts are: Karl Brown Steven Croft Gareth Cross Kyle Hogg Steven Mullaney Oliver Newby Stephen Parry Tom Smith The club will start contract discussions with senior squad members in due course. © Lancashire CCC
