Lanhydrock Cricket Club was formed in 1863, celebrating its 150th anniversary last year. The event was marked by our first ever international match against VRA Amsterdam whom featured Dutch captain Peter Borren in their touring squad.
The club play their cricket in the beautiful grounds of the National Trusts Lanhydrock House, Bodmin, Cornwall. A lovely setting on a summer’s day, with three quarters of the ground surrounded by mature trees and a unique sloping outfield rising from the square to the pavilion.
Lanhydrock Cricket Club currently has 2 adult teams, the first team playing in Division 4 East and the second team playing in Division 6 East of the Cornwall Cricket League.
A new Committee was elected in 2010 with a five year plan to improve the club’s facilities and equipment. The priority was a new pavilion roof, a Bowcom Bowdry and new mower which were acquired and paid for within two years and this year the club will purchase a new mobile batting cage and a full set of mobile covers. Ideally a dual lane all weather practice facility is the ultimate goal.
The first team are a young dynamic squad that have all progressed through the junior teams and are still improving year on year with age and experience. This bodes well for the future of the club. The second team are a mix of veteran players that have been associated with the club for over 20 years and juniors breaking into league cricket.
The club welcomes as many touring sides as possible each year and is renowned for its hospitality, as several teams return annually, some have been returning for over 14 years. If you would like a match please email the club.
