Adelaide Strikers 163-6 (Carey 44) beat
Sydney Thunder 110 (Laughlin 4-26) by 53 runs
4th match, Big Bash League, Adelaide Oval

Ben Laughlin picked a four-wicket haul while Peter Siddle and Rashid Khan also snared two wickets apiece as Adelaide Strikers completed a 53 run win over Sydney Thunder in the fourth game of the Big Bash League at Adelaide Oval.

Chasing just above eight an over, Jos Buttler (10) fell in the third over to Peter Siddle (2-6) and the Thunder were reduced to 35 for one in six overs.

The innings slipped away from the visitors as Travis Head (1-28) struck in his first delivery to send his opposite skipper Shane Watson (12) and Rashid (2-22) soon made an impact in the Big Bash League by dismissing both Ryan Gibson (4) and Ben Rohrer (0) in a span of three deliveries.

Any chance of a Thunder comeback was put to rest by Laughlin (4-26) who claimed three wickets in the 14th over to send Aiden Blizzard (2), Chris Green (0) and Mitchell McClenaghan (0) to leave them reeling at 89 for eight.

Only Arjun Nair (23 not out) showed some fight in the later stage of the tournament, but Thunder were eventually bowled out for 110 in 17.4 overs.

Earlier, it was knocks from Alex Carey (44) and Head (36) that set a solid platform for Adelaide Strikers' innings but Arjun (3-36) and McClenaghan (2-37) helped Sydney Thunder to make a comeback and keep the hosts down to 163 for six.

Rashid bagged the player of the match award for making an impactful contribution on his BBL debut.
