Match Preview

The stadium in Chennai is known to support spin but in the last match, probably because of the match being played on a different strip, the ball was coming on to the bat nicely. What the players would have to account for is the heat of Chennai which also plays a part in the scheme of things. CSK batters have adjusted well and do not try to pinch difficult singles in order to conserve their energy.

The Super Kings are at the top of the points table with eight wins and three losses from their 11 matches. They have 16 points and have practically qualified for the playoffs.

Shane Watson scored a flowing 96 in their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad to see the team to a win, while Suresh Raina also showed signs of coming back to form. Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar and Imran Tahir would be their leading bowlers.

Mumbai have picked up a pace quite early in the season this year and are at the third spot with six wins and four losses from 10 matches. They also have a pretty good net run rate and have a chance of making it to the top of the points table if they succeed in winning this match. As always, the Pandya brothers and Jasprit Bumrah will remain the x-factor for the team.
