Lokesh Rahul added to India squad for second Test against England
Karnataka batsman Lokesh Rahul has joined the Indian squad for the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam.
The decision to include Rahul comes after the 24-year-old proved his fitness while playing for his Ranji Trophy team Karnataka in the game against Rajasthan where he scored 76 and 106.
Rahul joined the rest of the members on Tuesday and started his routine training after remaining on the sidelines for almost a month following his hamstring injury which occurred during the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur.
Rahul said turning up for the Ranji Trophy game helped him realise his fitness level and is now hoping to continue from where he left at the international level.
"I'm feeling really good," Rahul was quoted as saying by Sportstar Live.
"You can spend time in the gym, but you never know if your body is fully healed until you play a few games. This game has helped me gain confidence."
The inclusion of Rahul has cast huge doubt on senior batsman Gautam Gambhir's participation in the second Test after he managed scores of 29 and 0 in the first game against England in Rajkot.
Following the draw in the first Test in Rajkot, both teams will look to seize the initiative when they lock horns in Visakhapatnam on 17th November.
