Lokesh Rahul to miss Bangladesh tour
India's opening batsman Lokesh Rahul is set to miss the tour of Bangladesh after being hit by dengue fever.
The 23-year-old, who had an impressive tour of Australia where he notched up his maiden Test century, is yet to recover fully from the illness consequently ruling him out of the one-off Test.
Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Anurag Thakur confirmed Rahul’s case with the team management yet to announce a replacement for the batsman.
"KL Rahul is still recovering from his illness so he will not be a part of the team to Bangladesh," said Thakur.
Rahul had a forgettable debut at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia but impressed one and all with a quality century in the following Test in Sydney.
India’s Test squad, led by Virat Kohli, will leave for Bangladesh on Monday with the Test match in Fatullah scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
The Test will then be followed by three One-Day Internationals that will start on 18th June.
