LV= Insurance County Championship 2022: Full squads, Fixtures & Preview: All you need to know
The 2022 LV= Insurance County Championship season will commence on April 7, 2022.
The County Championship returns to a two-division structure after being disrupted by COVID-19 over the last two years.
Division One comprises 10 counties while eight teams make up Division Two with a two-up, two-down promotion-and-relegation system.
Each county will play 14 games, with seven home matches and seven away matches.
Division One
Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire, Yorkshire
Division Two
Derbyshire, Durham, Glamorgan, Leicestershire, Middlesex, Nottinghamshire, Sussex, Worcestershire.
So much has been said and written about the County Championship system after England's dismal show in red ball cricket of late, particularly in the wake of another away Ashes thrashing. One, however, understands that it's not possible to overhaul the entire system and schedule at such short notice.
The first seven rounds of the Championship have all been scheduled from Thursday-Sunday in successive weeks and will lead up nicely to the Test Series against New Zealand.
There will be a further five rounds in June and July, after which the titles will be decided in September.
