On Saturday the Cricket Winter Wallop in Malta continued with a thumping win from the Magpies who soared from the bottom of the ladder to the top by edging out Melita.
After the Magpies won the toss and batted first Tony Azzopardi and Mark G.Sacco gave them a solid start by making 35 and 28 respectively.

Finally, Ronnie Sacco chipped in with 10 runs towards the end of the innings while five other batsmen made as many runs between them.
The most decisive factor of the game was the 41 extras which gave the Marsa team a very respectable total of 189 runs from their 20 overs. For the Melita team Tim Wheeler took two wickets while Joy Ghoseroy, Jack Barrett and Chris Bedford took a wicket each.
The league leaders opened up with Frank Spiteri and Jack Barrett, who also gave their team a solid start with 30 and 39 respectively. Matt McKeogh kept the game alive with some impressive shots which included four fours and a six, and he remained not out on 43.
Joy Ghoseroy (22), Daniel Galea (7) and Ian Pendelbury (9 not out) all tried desperately for their team with two of them being run out.
The Marsa team only gave away 19 extras which left the Melita team on a score of 171 runs at the end of the innings.
They went down by 18 runs and the difference between extras was 22 so the Melita team will be pretty sore with themselves. The two wickets taken by Marsa went to Ronnie Sacco and Haroon Majeed.
The Marsa team took 16 points from the win while Melita took three and next Saturday the Melita team take on Krishna Melita looking to take back top spot while Krishna are looking to stay in the race.
